Anatomy of the Arena: Designing a Ring for Focus

When Ironbound was built, the ring came last. Every design decision before it — lighting angles, wall material, even ceiling height — was made to minimize distraction inside the ropes.
The overhead lighting is intentionally narrow and warm, drawing focus downward instead of washing out the whole room. Acoustic panels keep the sound of gloves on pads sharp instead of muddy, which coaches use to gauge punch quality from across the gym.
It's a small detail most members never consciously notice — which, per the architects, was exactly the point.
